A new research project aims to ensure safe separation between manned and unmanned airspace users

| |

An EU-funded project, the URClearED SESAR Project, is examining critical technology to ensure that drones and manned aerial vehicles can safely operate in the same airspace.

The project focuses on a key security aspect: the “remain-well-clear” (RWC) function. This function is responsible for keeping a safe distance from other aircrafts to avoid a mid-air collision.

The implementation of RWC could ensure the safe integration of drones in the airspace and help the safe operation of drones in urban environments as well.
