ÉireComposites, Manna Aero and NUIG have partnered and secured EUR 2.44 million in funding to advance airframe manufacturing.
The three companies have launched the MI-DRONE project, which aims to address the growing consumer demand for fast, reliable, last-mile drone delivery services. As part of the project, the companies will use the funding to develop lightweight airframes for drones from carbon fibre. Making the airframes lighter will lead to a reduction of the cost per drone by 36% between 2024 and 2026.
Moreover, the companies will also explore technologies for the high-volume manufacturing of drones.
