Leading drone advocacy group AUVSI has spoken out against avigation easements in the US

| |

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) critised the United States’ avigation easements.

Avigation easements would allow state and local governments to create drone toll lanes in the sky. AUVSI expressed its concerns, that this could create a complex and costly system for commercial drone operators to navigate and it also directly challenges federal control of the airspace.

Taxing industry for access to low-altitude airspace before the industry could engage in widespread commercial operations would disable the development and innovation in the drone industry. Hence, the company supports the idea of introducing a uniform, federal regulatory framework that allows everyone to fly under the same set of rules.
