FOCA: drone incidents decline in Switzerland

| | ,

The Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) in its 2020 annual safety report records that the number of drone accidents declined to 40 in 2020 from the 79 of the previous year.

The COVID-19 pandemic largely contributed to the decline of drone incidents, as significantly fewer drone flights were conducted during the pandemic.

However, the pandemic is not the only reason behind the decrease in the number of UAV accidents. The establishment of the U-Space system could contribute to the decline of drone incidents, as it would ensure safe drone operations.
