Cargo drone maker, AerialMetric, has completed a 225-kilometre-long medical drone flight in Northern Madagascar, the longest cargo flight in Africa to date.
Although Astral Aerial in Kenya claims the actual longest medical cargo flight, its flight was executed by an aircraft over a ton. Hence, AerialMetric’s new record is for small cargo drones and was achieved while carrying a 2kg medical package.
The flight was part of a trial- conducted by the World Health Organisation Africa Regional Office (WHO AFRO)- that tests the capability of medical cargo drones. The trial examines the operational workflow, the technical and regulatory requirements, the cost, and the time-saving capabilities of medical drones.
