Drones can monitor the radiated uranium sites in Central Asia

| |

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will use gamma-ray reading drones to monitor former uranium mining sites in Central Asia.

The drones will fly over former uranium extraction zones in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The drones will be equipped with a new generation gamma spectrometer that can provide accurate radiation readings.

Monitoring these radiated sites with drones makes the process safer, as the potential radiological and physical risks can be avoided.
