UK photography competition aims to raise drone safety awareness

| |

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced a photo competition, #ShotOnMyDrone, to raise awareness about safe drone operations.

The United Kingdom has over 300000 registered drone users; however, new research by the CAA reveals that 20% of drone users and half of the general public are unaware that CAA approval is needed for most drone operations in towns and cities.

Hence, the main aim of the competition is to educate people about the required drone permissions and to showcase the beautiful landscapes of the UK.

The competition categories include:

  • Urban night
  • Urban day
  • Countryside

The winner will take home a DJI Mavic Air drone. Other prizes included special backpacks designed to carry drones. The competition will run until January 31, 2022.
