UK police tests the deployment of BVLOS drones

| |

The UK’s National Police Air Service (NPAS) has selected four drone-equipped police divisions to test the deployment of BVLOS drones in the future.

Several police forces participate in the tests to explore the capabilities and benefits of BVLOS drone operations. The drones would be used for long-distance routine surveillance and searches for suspects in the distance of 32-48 km.

Such deployment of drones may boost the effectiveness of police operations. However, many feel that the deployment of BVLOS surveillance drones would interfere too much with the privacy of citizens.
