Drones are increasingly used for traffic monitoring around the world. However, Spain will be the first European country to use drones for highway violation monitoring.

The Direccion General de Trafico (DGT) will deploy more than 40 surveillance drones across Spain to monitor highway violations. The most popular drone used by the DGT is the Thyra V109 which can fly at a top speed of 80 km/h.

The DGT hopes to increase the effectiveness of highway monitoring with the help of drones.
